I am a die hard Cubs fan and the Brewers have to be deluded if they really think that they have this divison wrapped up. The Cubs are hot on their tails and 4 games back and their is a whole 2nd half to play. I could understand if they are Brewers fans that are loyal to their team but you can't change the truth even if they don't like the Cubs that the Brewers their team aren't unstopable, uncatchable, and have this divison wrapped up from the Cubs.
It seems like they are going to have learn the hard way of how wrong they are.

The Cubs pitching does not flat out suck. They have more depth, experience and no longer must rely solely on Wood and Prior. Not to mention expect Zambrano to have a strong 2nd half as always and help them win the Central. Let's not forget they have been shutting down their opponents since their 24-10 run that started June 3. So that is very far from flat out sucking
Also people need to stop using history as the Cubs won't get it. If they did that then people would be saying oh Red Sox will blow it, so will the White Sox. History does not determine the future all the time. I believe it is the Cubs year. Also that centerfielder for the Brewers is going to be out for probally 6 weeks which will be a problem since he can't contribute to a once cosistent offense, not to mention Brewers have been shown struggling with losing to the Nationals, Pirates and don't have a full roster of experienced to grind it out the rest of the season. The Cubs are coming at them with the crumbling.

The Brewers are becoming frustrated and crumbling under the pressure and the Cubs continue to decrease the lead. If the Brewers continue at their pace of the last two series or worse then expect then to be out first really fast and be competing with other teams just to get above 500.
Non Cubs fans and people are underestimating the Cubs so much that they will learn the hard of how wrong they are.

I too am a Die-Hard Cubs fan. The first couple of months ago I would never have thought that the Cubs would be within 3 games of taking the NL Central. But here we are knocking on the door and look to overtake the Brewers.

Granted that we are on a hot streak, there is still room for improvement; mainly the starting rotation. Marquis and Hill have yet to give us consistent quality starts so I would like to see some serious trading for someone to fit their slots.

With another two quality starters, I don't see a reason why the Cubs shouldn't win the NL Central.

Oh, and with the recent trade of Bowen to the A's for Kendall who is batting .297 we will finally have a catcher who can hit the ball, after the rather hasty trade of Michael Barrett. But that's an argument for another time.

GO CUBS GO!!

The Cubs have what it takes to catch the Brewers, with Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez, their lineup is great already, although trading away Barret did hurt their offense. If Pie can keep having his surprise season, and Isturiz can start playing like he did in his all-star year with LA, Sambrano can total 20 wins, maybe Ted Lilly improves, and the bullpen improves as the deadlines draws closer, the Cubs should be able to do some damage.

On the other hand the Brewers have reason to believe that they got what it takes. They have a young offense with power in Prince Fielder and JJ Hardy, and have a good supporting cast around them with Tony Graffanino late in that lineup and Ryan Braun. Their rotation is fairly good led by Ben Sheets, and behind him Chris Capuano and Jeff Suppan with a good bullpen with all star Fransisco Cordero as the closer. The Brew Crew will need another great half though as they are a young team that could easily run out of gas and go on a 10-game losing streak.

In the end I think it will be close but the Cubbies will win, although it will be tough to get the 4 games back. Although I don't believe Milwaukee's success was a fluke, I don't believe this young team will be able keep up with the standard they have set for themselves.

For my money, when you look to pick between these two teams, the rotation is going to be the key. I had picked the Brewers to win the division, but Capuano, Bush and Suppan underperformed in the first half; they'll have to perform better in the 2nd half for the Brewers to win the division. As for the Cubs; Rich Hills' last 5 starts weren't very good, and Marshall has to show me that he can pitch well for an entire season. Will Marquis be able to maintain his effectiveness in the second half, or will he revert to last seasons form? How these questions will be answered will go a long way in determining which team wins the NL Central.

A good reason is because of the fact that the Cubs pitching flat-out sucks. The Cubs pitching will not be able to support them for much longer. My guess is that the Cubs will probably cave within a few weeks after the break ends. I might be saying this because I live in central Wisconsin and love the Brewers though.

Because history is on the Brewers side. The Cubs will not win and I am not even a Brewer fan, but do hate the Cubs. I live in central Wisconsin which is a huge tourist area, but unfortunately we get too many Illinois people here. They are insufferable. We call them FIBS. Someone should ask the question, What is a FIB? People from Wisconsin don't vacation in Chicago. But no, the Cubs will not win. White Sox fans are not as bad as Cub fans. Bear fans suck also.

That's because their fans know the Cubs will fall apart as usual. Past history is on their side. The Brewers were in the World Series back in 1982, and the Cubs almost made it to the big series until they self destructed a few years ago. Before that the Cubs weere in the series in 190,,,,,,,,,,, oh never mind......

The Cubs have dug themselfs a hole.

But if you look talent wise I think the Cubs are better

I think the Brewers will be the biggest dissapoitment of the 2nd half because I dont think thier talent is good enough to do what theve done again in the 1st half.

It's because the cubs seem like they are dysfunctional and really are a quiet hot team at the moment, baseballs a game of numbers and really w/ 81 games left to play both teams could struggle and teh pirates may win the central for all we know

Maybe they are saying it because they are scared! I would love to see the Cubs win it all even though I am not a Cubs fan.
