The typical red stater hates New Yorkers (and anyone else from the Northeast), and hates people who are not Evangelical/Fundamentalist Protestants which leaves only the older version of Bush

These are their only options as far as I can see. I'm not a republican and I'm not sure I understand the motivations of the party....if I were a Republican I think I would be voting for Ron Paul....but if I had to guess I'd say the LDS. That is, if he can convince the religious right that Mormonism is in line with their views.

I think that fundamentally we as Americans , conservative and lib alike want BASICALLY the same things ... safe country , lower taxes , booming economy , immigration reform, and getting back to the America we know we can be ... and it's gonna take some people's feet being effin stepped on . Period . You can't make all the people happy all of the time , so we need someone in office who will take the reigns and who is willing to look at this country and say " This sucks , but we're gonna fix it..like it or not!". I think that's why I'm conservative politically speaking , simply because more liberal schools of thought seem to be about doing what's best for the underdog , rather than whats good for the masses .

I'm not saying nor condoning being complete asses in the process , but this is AMERICA , why should we learn Spanish because of Spanish speaking immigrants? I realize that some children of immigrants may then be lost in the educational shuffle so to speak , but their parents knew that when they came here ....not the nicest point of view , but true . it's not MY fault you speak Spanish. I feel for you , but suck it up and learn to speak American English ... Also , if you're here illegally , I'm sorry but you've broken the law , so we're gonna send you back home. You're more than welcome to get at the end of the line , and go through legal channels , but we're not gonna coddle you simply because you're already here . If you broke into my house and demanded to have use of everything great in there I'd kick your *** out ..and I'd get the police involved . I wouldn't let you stay because , after-all , you were "already there". Breaking and entering is a crime , whether it be house to house or country to country. As a household I have limited resources ...I support my family . I can't support yours too just because you're here. This country , like my family , has limited resources as well. America has a cap on legal immigrants because that's how much the country can afford to allow in . I know this sucks , but that's life , and life isn't always easy. By being here illegally you are making it harder fro those who were respectful enough to immigrate properly and legally....and that's the sum of it . It's about respect.

This is just ONE issue ...and you can see it's not an easy one . What's best for us as a country is going to hurt some feelings , and may even seem a bit against the whole ' melting pot' scenario . It's not that the melting pot is going to be discarded , just that it's a smaller ( legal) pot. It needs to be done . The right answer isn't always the popular one , nor is it the easiest , but again .. that's life . If life were fair then candy would be great for you and low in calories , and brocollii would kill you .

It's time for us to act like the grown ups , and make this country eat it's veggies, do it's homework , and clean it's room . It made us better people growing up...it will make for a better country. Just look , as sad as it is , at what poor parenting does to kids. Do you want America running around barefoot in Wal-Mart with a dirty face and hands , screaming at the top of it's lungs??

I'm ready for a leader who's gonna step up and stand up for America as a whole ...not America as presented by the Halmark Channel. It's NOT all flowers and moonbeams , and everybody gets what they want. It's a dirty , it's real , and it's an unpleasant job ...and we need someone who's willing to get their hands dirty. Period.

Who cares who the neocons vote for! The others would be better served by voting for more conservative Democrats, getting rid of most in their party! And if they won't, we will!

You can take 2006 as a mild message, the next won't be!

You want Thompson, the man Nixon called DUMB and while on the committee investigating Nixon was giving him committee in formation. He was also coached by Nixon's lawyer on what questions to ask!

You want another dumb. corrupt, politician! Figures!

Anybody but a Bush clone. Repubs want the closest thing to Ronald Reagan that they can get, and many people think that it is Fred Thompson. I don't believe it. I think that he is more of an inside-the-beltway neo-con who is trying to sell the image that he is a Reagan clone. He is no Ronald Regan!

Republicans will vote for the person the Republican party tells them to vote for. And they will like it.
