et al means additional authors
no canvassers is a request for basically no soliciting. Canvasser is a term used for someone who canvasses neighborhoods selling magazines or siding treatment or stuff like that. so no canvassers or canvassing is asking not to be solicited via door to door

as far as i know it means and all. how are you, your husband et.al. means like how are you your husband and all your kids if you have a lot...

salesmen,jehovas,political canvasers etc,just put up a sign saying all trespassers will be eaten that should scare the buggers off
