This is actually a territorial battle activity. If you have loads of space, or quite young fish, you will not see this activity.

Depends on how old they are. The "kissing" display they put on is thought to be a sign of aggression or some form of social status testing. When young, the Gourami (kissing fish) are not very aggressive, however this behaviour changes as they get older and they will start to compete for dominance and will start to "kiss".

perhaps they do not like public displays of affection. I thought that when kissing fish were "kissing" that it was actually a form of fighting. So, I think you really want to know why your fish aren't fighting.

kissing fish only kiss when there fighting over territory
its a way they try to show who is stronger
if there space for both of them then there not going to kiss since they have enough space

The kissing is a display of aggression and is between to male fish. They are not gay.

If you are talking about the Kissing Gourami...the "kissing" is actually a sign of aggression to each other. So maybe they are just not feeling the need to act aggressive to each other.

Your fish like each other, they only kiss when being aggressive.

They are busy boning each other at the moment. Its a bit hard to kiss at the same time.
