Has anyone here used those fetal heartbeat monitors you can use at home yourself (like the bebe sounds)? Do they work?

I rented a doppler (the same type the dr uses) from dynamicdoppler.com and it worked awesome and it was reasonably priced. Well worth it! we payed about $40 for 3 months.

I have one at home and I was able to hear some movements from 22-24 weeks on (no heartbeat) and was able to very mildly hear the heartbeat starting around 34 weeks. I would say don't waste your money

I used the bebe sounds with my daughter, and we liked it, however you need to be in a very quiet room and then you can hear.... alot depends on how the baby is laying and how thin you are... its all personel prefference.... if you can afford to rent one thats what i would do if not its kinda fun to use the cheaper bebe sounds!!! GOOD LUCK!

They suck, trust me. All you can hear is the baby moving around...which is kind of cool early on when you aren't feeling the baby move yet. But when you start feeling the baby move it's kind of a pointless thing to have. If you're going to get anything, shell out the extra money and buy a doppler (like the one they use at the doctor's office). You can also rent them. Do a Google search for dopplers and you can find sites where you can buy/rent them.

I rented a doppler from www.bellybeats.com and I LOVED IT! I had one previous miscarriage and lots of bleeding with this pregnancy... It totally saved my sanity and a lot of ER visits! I got it at about 12 weeks and it worked GREAT. I totally recommend it, it's so worth the money, about $20 a month. I would definitely say if you are gonna get one to give them a call.
Congrats!
Very Best Wishes!

Dont waste your money on BeBe Sounds...they suck.
You pick up more cars going down the stree than you do the baby moving or heartbeat.
Rent a dopplar from your hospital, they are much much better!

My husband was able to hear the heartbeat with a regular stethoscope.

yes! they work great, but I had to wait to hear the baby until a little later in the pregnancy (my siblings child)...

I just purchased one for me and my honey to use...it has 2 headphones so we both can listen at the same time... I am only 14 weeks so I will have to wait a little while longer...I got it at target...

I had one with my first andi have another one with my second. I personally can't pick the heartbeat up and you have to be very quite to hear anything. Some people like them but i think its a waste of money.

I would rent one or try to borrow one from your doctor. You don't want to stress yourself out buying a cheepie one and not being able to hear the babys heartbeat.
