Audrey Hepburn denotes what a lady should act like...lady like means not being loud and obnoxious, dressing modestly which doesn't mean you still can't be seductive. Sitting with your legs together or crossed, basically taking pride in who you are. Knowing that you are worth and deserve the very best.

How old are You? I'll bet that You are still growing up, and that someone is tied of having to put up with a teenaged Girl who doesn't clean Her room help with the housework and...........you get the general idea? There is something funny about the way Females immediately think of certain steriotypes whenever the words 'Ladylike' and 'behaviour' get thrown into the mix. Forget the actresses with Their fake accents and cultivated mannerisms. That is not what being a 'Lady' is all about. A true Lady is honest, open-minded, sincere, ever ready to be of assistance, genuine, generous with both her time and resources, patient, virtuous and caring. She does not have to wear a dress, brush Her hair, tidy Her things, or not behave like a 'Tom Boy'. A 'Lady' is what others think You are, and that is what really matters. Your Mother wants you to be a lady so that She can be proud of You and show You to the world and say, "That is My Daughter".
My best friend is 50 and still a "Tom Boy". She is also the most feminine and 'ladylike' creature that you could ever wish to meet. Why? It is not Her beauty or poise, diction or sophistication that deams Her to be a 'lady'. It is Her inner beauty and the fact that She meets the test of every item on the list of criterior that I have previously mentioned. You will 'grow' into being a 'lady', in much the same way that You will grow into a Woman. (No go and tidy up Your room).
Cheers.

How To Act Lady Like

The movie, "Blast from the Past" had a beautiful quote,

"Adam: Manners are a way of showing other people we care about them."
----- -----
Troy: You know, I asked him about that. He said, good manners are just a way of showing other people we have respect for them. See, I didn't know that, I thought it was just a way of acting all superior. Oh and you know what else he told me?
Eve: What?
Troy: He thinks I'm a gentleman and you're a lady.
Eve: [disgusted] Well, consider the source! I don't even know what a lady is.
Troy: I know, I mean I thought a "gentleman" was somebody that owned horses. But it turns out, his short and simple definition of a lady or a gentleman is, someone who always tries to make sure the people around him or her are as comfortable as possible.
Eve: Where do you think he got all that information?
Troy: From the oddest place - his parents. I mean, I don't think I got that memo from mine.
~~~~~~
So in being a Lady (or Gentlemen) you always have manners with those around you.
I feel that my wife is an example of a lady. She can hold an intelligent conversation making her point with dignity and honor, She can be EXTREMELY SEXY, stimulating my manhood to the very CORE of my soul, yet she can climb under a pick up truck and efficiently do repairs and maintenance. Come out from under the truck, clean up and be a formidable beauty of class and grace. She was a mother to my children and sacrificed many times as she always put our off spring FIRST. She is now proving to be a loving grandmother.
She is a beautiful LADY.
Be gentle. Be motherly. Be quietly confident. Don't be loud, but firm so everybody stops and listens to you. Look at the next person (man or woman) as someone who needs a friend. Be what God made you. There is a reason there are opposite sexes. Even if you believe in evolution or the sun god, why would they have created opposite sexes? We can't have women acting like men. That would be like having nothing but men. Children need motherly care and tenderness.:) If it weren't for women, men would be killing each other. Us gals keep em in place.
I would/do give "JAZZ" the 10 points credit for the "BEST ANSWER".
It is direct, to the point, simple and accurate.
However, it would be nice to have had more information of the accusations of you acting unlady like. Some consider being aggressive, speaking your mind (in a lady like manner), and/or assertive as being unlady like. I don''t. But being vulgar is.
If they mean Tomboyish, Butch that sometimes confused with unlady like and unfeminine. You can be less feminine and still be lady like.
I've read over some of the answers you've received so far, they sound pretty good to me. I like the Hepburn idea.
Walk with good posture, head up shoulders back, stomach in. That sort of thing. I really like the manners part, seems like a lot of that has gone by the wayside in recent years and so has our femininity.
To roberto,
Obviously she WANTS to be more of a lady, that's why she asked to question!
Ladies treat others with dignity and respect, and expect to be treated the same way. They don't behave like hoochie mamas. They have the courage to stand up for what they believe in, even when everyone around them is laughing at them. They are compassionate and intelligent and proud of it. I don't know who old you are or what you could be doing wrong, but I wouldn't worry about it. You'll figure it out.
Respect yourself and those around you by how you look and act, it doesn't mean giving up who you are, be proud of yourself, hold yourself and others in high regard, don't lie, cheat or steal anything or anyone. Most of all be the person you want to be. That's a true lady.
