The Yankees right now have thier eye on A-Rod because of his excellent season.
Right now the Yankees want A-Rod and Posada, although Mariano will probably coming back.
The Yankees have millions of dollars and thier not going to let any of those guys become free agents.
Dont worry we will see Mariano and Posada in '08.

i think the yankees should focus on the arod, I'm a red sox fan, but this could only be a smart move if they re-sign him because texas would still be paying some of that conract, but if he opts out, how can the yankees pay him 30 Million. They are looking to resign him right now, because he is their power source, and face it, he is going to be the homerun king at the end of his career. Mo is close to the end of the line and Posada is not getting any younger, but I can't see either playing with another team, so if they get arod, they will prob try and get rivera and posada in the offseason, but it seems right now they just want arod.

The yankees will not give Posada or Rivera a long term contract at their age, you saw what they did with Bernie Williams. Posada and Rivera will be two to three years at best and I believe both will re-sign with the Yankees. A-Rod is a different story. I believe he would like to negotiate a new ten year contract now with the Yankees that will take him to the end of his career. He has a real shot to be the all time homerun king and I don't think he would want to disrupt that effort by looking for a new team in the middle of that chase. Don't you think the Yankee fans would rally around A-Rod so he can bring the all time homerun record back to New York where all Yankee fans believes it belongs?

No A-rod for Yankees next year. I think he has taken it very personally the way the fans and press has treated him in NY.
I'm think he goes to Dodgers or Angels. The Yankees are trying to extend his contract to keep the old one alive (where Texas is paying a large amount of the contract!) Why you would help out the yankees and not increase your salary is beyond me. Time will tell if he doesn't void the deal I am wrong.
To me Posada is the key contract without him and his experience behind the plate where would that staff be? They are already terrible but I would think it would be worse if he leaves!
Rivera doesn't matter if the team is terrible around him you can close games for a team that is losing 15-8!

I would say the Yankees definitely WANT Posada and Rivera on the team next year, but they will have to take a discount due to age. Their contract negotiations will stay "on the back burner". Yankees want A-Rod to be a Yankee when he breaks many career records in the future and they probably think his contract (possibly $33 mil per season) will pay for itself as everyone will want to witness A-Rod breaking the HR record.

i think that the Yankees will sign Jorge and Mariano at the end of the season....dont worry....Jorge's career is not over yet, neither is Mariano's....when he retires from MLB he will be in pinstripes and so will Mariano. I think that we will see both of them returning to the team in 08. Jorge and Mariano are both very important to the team and are two of the most valueable players as well. The team wouldnt be the same without them and they will be back. I think that A-Rod will agree to the conract and we will have the best team ever....even though we already do. GO JORGE!! GO MO!! GO A-ROD!! GO YANKEES!! =D

The question is "who will blink first?" Rivera will sign with the Yankees. it particularly is in easy terms a count of who has extra will ability. Will Rivera supply in and settle for the three/$40 5 deal or will the Yankees think of Rivera could bypass someplace else and grant a 4/$60 deal. the two way, Rivera is in pinstripes next 12 months.

I didn't hear anything about A-Rod getting a contract extension but i knew that it was gonna happen. I dont think that he would leave the team with all of his friends on it. I mea him and jeter have been friends since their rookie years. and the yankees would'nt be the same without Rivera and Possada. So I think that there is NO doubt that they will re sighn.

Rivera and Posada aren't in their prime anymore, the Yankees are better getting some young talent.

Rivera is in the "fall" of his major league ball playing and has lost velocity and accuracy.
Posada as well ,arm strength has lost something and his batting average is down. The Yankees feel that dropping big dollars into either player would be a waste, and there fore will persue free agency catcher for 2008.
