Setting up Biological Filter in Tropical Aquarium?

I have just bought an aquarium on Ebay and the filter contains a course black mesh, a white fine mesh and a pack of ceramic rings, can someone tell me in what oreder I put these in the filter please...thanks a lot..

Layer them so that the water goes course mesh, then the fine mesh, then the rings would be the normal order
