Tom is a Scientologist which means he follows the practices of the Church of Scientology created by science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard. Katie is demented for marrying him. Maybe that's where the whole alien theory came from... As I'm not a scientologist I have no idea what they do other than some sort of Dianetics stuff... If you're curious about it walk into a Scientology center and take a free Dianetics test... Of course you might end up brainwashed with your whole savings account wiped out by some aliens...
People like to joke that they give all their money hoping that the mother ship will one day take them to their home planet... but you can google it and read the propaganda for yourself... as for anything real... good luck...

For example: Xenu (sometimes Xemu) is introduced as an alien ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Scientology - It was founded by a mediocre Sci-Fi Author back int eh 50's (i believe it was the 50's) They believe we are born with aliens or some crap inside of us and you have to pay a "mentor" or whatever to cleanse you of them

I believe they're into Scientology. I don't think it's a religion. It seems like more of a cult for people who lose touch with reality. Thats why so many people in Hollywood are getting into it.
