Hi :)
This is a common problem. Personally I would delete
Norton and get AVG or AVAST or make sure your
upgraded to the latest Norton with all updates.
For now make sure that you have configured the Norton Personal Firewall correctly. You can do this most of the time by modifying the firewall rules and restarting your computer.
How to modify firewall rules
1
Start Norton Personal Firewall.
2
In the main program window, double-click Personal Firewall.
3
On the Advanced tab, click General.
4
Select the rule that you want to modify, and click Modify.
5
On the Action tab, click Permit. (You click permit on each program you want to allow access)
6
Click OK.
7
Repeat lines 4–6 for each rule that you want to modify.
8
Click OK.
9
Click OK.
Hope this helps.
Ciao*

Call Norton/Symantec at 800 342 0652. They can walk you through a fix, or help you uninstall the program if they believe it's gotten corrupted.
This is an issue we run into with all kinds of firewall programs where I do internet tech support, not just Norton; since we're not trained, license, or authorized to work on 3rd-party software, we always direct people to their software maker if they can't disable the firewall or antivirus; this avoids us giving you bad advice that might violate your warranty or license agreement.

You have Norton set to block connections to the internet from your web browser.
Go into Norton Personal Firewall and find your list of programs that are permitted or blocked from accessing the internet.
Find Firefox or Internet Explorer (or whatever you use to go on the internet) on the list
Change the setting to allow connections to the internet on all ports for that program.

If you really want to keep your norton firewall then you need to go into your firewall settings under internet options and change your settings it is set to high so getting online is near impossible withoput turning it off. You have to adjust your settings to accept cookies and allow you online. If you don't mind losing that firewall you should just get rid of Norton. There are plenty of free ones that work just fine. AVGfree is a great one. but if you want to keep your norton and are happy with it then follow the tips listed above. good luck

I don't know, but it seems like all of a sudden Microsoft is not being compatible with any other software right now! I think their last automatic update changed a bunch of things! Microsoft does this so you will upgrade or only buy their products.
