Then Steve Chapman has one of the best pieces I've read in a long, long time on the subject and for the record I seldom agree with this guy on issues

I don't think he's suggesting we take lightly at all Andy, he is asking for a common sense approach and not a fatalistic fear mongoring propaganda campaign

To the people who say they will still hit us here I would ask
how does us being over there help that situation?
Thousands of containers come in every day that are not inspected. Our borders are wide open. Just like the guys who flew the planes into the twin towers there are thousands still here on expired visas. Too bad we didn't spend a trillion dollars beefing up homeland security instead of playing the stop light game. Today is yellow no today is blue etc etc.
Terror and terrorism and Al Qiada is being used to keep the lemmings marching to the tune of the Republicans. Even today in his speech Bush through out the terms as much as possible. So much of his speech was just a bunch of falsehood rhetoric meant to scare the lemmings and try to boost his ratings.

Does anyone else find it interesting, that everytime something goes against Bush's Iraq war, another terror attack pops up to remind us that terrorists are still out there?
You know, everytime congress starts investigating, or threatening to draw the purse strings, or anything for that matter that conflicts with the Bush agenda...headline: terror attack....blah blah blah.
even the latest one the police supposedly impounded the car and later found the bomb. Does anyone really expect someone to believe that the car would not have been searched for weapons, drugs, or illegal immigrants before being impounded??
almost as if a cooperative thing is going on here.
Not saying that there is any kind of conspiracy going on, but it looks rather ODD.
one day you have people in an uproar about phone taps...the next day the headline pops out...terrorists caught using lingo over cell phones or some such nonsense. It happens everytime. Just keep an eye out and see if that isn't an accurate evaluation.
Meanwhile, people against Bush's policies start crying we need to protect our ports, and our borders, and nothing ever happens in those more vulnerbale areas.

That's a great article on terrorism. Truth be told, so is the Chicago Tribune article.
But terrorism has always been the tertiary threat portrayed by the author. Just compare the number of dead in 9/11 and the dead in Iraq. Terrorism is a law enforcement matter. Always has been.
When the US acknowledges this, will it look for a new excuse to invade poor countries?

I would ask Steve Chapman to take a look at the following:

Bigotry?
What I am pointing out if you look how real the threat is if you and Mr Chapman think this is not a war. I suggest you wake up and smell the coffee before it is too late.

I agree and the American people have fallen for the war on terror hook, line, and sinker. Although I feel we should remain vigilant, to invade countries to kill a few thousand terrorists spread out around the globe is unconscionable.
The question in my mind today is, why is there a known terrorist camp in Pakistan and nothing being done about it?

Okay I read it, what he is saying is that they may want to but they lack the skill necessary to carry it off.
We are running in panic from a few hoodlums that probably wouldn't last on Chicago's East side more than a few weeks.
So then we should just ignore them and hope they go away?

great article, goes along with my thoughts on iraq, the war will never end because blackwater and haliburton have no reason to end it.it is in their best interest to keep the war and therefore their profits going as long as possible.chertoff will try to keep fear levels high because without fear he is out of a job.
