In my case, it's cat slobber and toe jam as the dog can't get to the keyboard [not for lack of trying, she's just too short]. I treat it as organic art, what with the pop spills and chip crumbs. Every once in a while or if a particularly slobbersome event happens, I turn the board over, give it a good shake, leave it to air dry a bit, then degerm it with a pop up bleach wipe.... the cat and/or dog have not been harmed in this process.

I clean my keyboard with a cotton cosmetic pad and alcohol. Wipes would probably work well also. If nothing else a damp washcloth would probably do. Get two, one with soap, and one to "rinse." Wring out really well, you don't want them to drip. In the future, teach your dog if he's going to use the computer, to not slobber! LOL!

I haven't tried this, but the tech guys where I work say that you can wash a keyboard just like you'd wash a plate. I'm waiting until my keyboard gets so dirty that I'd rather just buy a new one, cos... if washing it works, hooray! If not, new keyboard was on the way anyhow. ;)

But a new one sawman, they are not too expensive. I used to have a bull mastiff ridgeback mix, 135lbs. and I tell you what, when that dog drooled, it was like taking a bath with the dog. Oh, the poor cat, when the dog would go over to him,. with these big old things hanging from his mouth, the cat would be soaked. lol.BUY a new one.lol.
