I am an outfielder in basball for junior little league. 2 days ago i was running for a ball i caught the ball but smashed my face into the wall(cracked across my face and lik a displaced nose) and tore ligaments in my knee. Now everyone calls me aaron rowand. But i really want to know is there anyway to know the wall is coming when your running at full speed with no warning track looking up at the ball?

It can sometimes be really difficult to know where the wall is while chasing a fly ball. There is no right answer that any of us can give you. Even experienced MLB players have the same problem all the time. You just have to sneak a quick look to see where you are, in relationship to the wall, when running down those fly balls.

Before you start the game next time, go out to your normal position and run as fast as you can towards the wall, counting the seconds/steps in your head, whichever is easier. But don't run into the wall, that would be stupid. This way, you'll have some sort of idea on how far you can go before you bust your face again. Holding out your hand will create more resistance and just slow you down.

I have the same problem in my softball league: there's a steep dropoff about 100 feet from my normal position in left field. Before every game, I get into my normal position and run full speed in that direction so I know how far I have until the hill.

It looks like you found out!

Seriously, you have to keep one hand out in front of you and your glove hand in the air following the ball to keep from noseplanting into the wall. It also depends on the angle and everything else. That is one way to take care of that problem.

you take either hand, preferably the one closer to the wall as you r running (because you should take a fly ball over your head at an angle) and feel for the wall as you are running

it needs practice because its tough to run and feel for a wall at the same time. so practice it
