The Stand by Stephen King. Its a classic tale of good versus evil in the Armeggedon vain. Wonderful story with terrific characters like the Walking Dude, Trashcan Man, Mother Abigail and Stu Redman.

My favorite book of all times is Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy. The line "Because we were too minny" gets me everytime. Hardy's writing is phenomenal!!
