Safi is right on target here.

Ok you want to breed your Bettas. Easier said then done. Basically you have to condition them first. Also YOU CANNOT HOUSE THEM TOGEATHER. Until it is time to breed them, they need to be housed seperately. Unfortunatly, many people have NO CLUE about Bettas and tell you they can't live with anyone else. Very untrue fallacy. Betta's are only aggressive toward other Bettas and fish that have big flowing fancy fins, that males might mistake as another male Betta.

Now, you keep them housed in seperate tanks and give them a very high protien diet of like bloodworms, krill, and brine shrimp. After about a couple weeks of this, either put a divider in the tank or place the other tank near each other and allow the male to see the female. He should then begin building a bubble nest. The female should be getting rounder and developing eggs as well. You should but some decorations like cups or clay pots that are small, that offer cover for the female. Things will be rough. The male will be very physical with her, don't worry this is normal. If the female looks like she's too beat up, fins torn up and not moving right, then take her out and try again. If successful, the male will cup the female in his body and induce her to drop her eggs. He will ferilize them, and store them in the bubble nest. This could take several attempts to get them all. Take the female out when she is no longer dropping eggs for him.

There are other arrangements you need to make for the fry to survive, if you need additional information on that, Magicaman, LuvinLife, and Kylie are Betta breeders, as well as 8 in the Corner is another good person for reference.

They'll fight.

Bettas can only be bred when they're in the mood for it. When the male is ready to breed, he'll build a "bubble nest" at the top of his tank.

If he's NOT making a nest for the eggs, and you put a female in there, they'll fight and kill each other.

These are very solitary fish, very aggressive. They are not easy to breed. Look for a book on them, if you really want to breed them.

woman and male bettas won't be able to be housed in a similar tank. they are going to combat to the loss of life, merely like in case you place 2 adult males in a similar tank. the only way you have extra advantageous than one betta in a tank is that in case you have 4 or extra women persons or the tank has separators.

Unless she was receptive, he would chase her around, and then they would probably start fighting and she would most likely end up dead. Betta breeding is a very tedious and tiresome skill that costs alot of money to get the breeding tank set up and working. Most people who intend to breed bettas don't get babies or it takes a long time for everything to be right for them to get babies.

If they are in a spawning situation, it might be okay, but if you are planning to keep them together permanently, your female will likely destroy your male Betta...

The males are territorial so only males will fight. Generally the males get the females in their area. That is why they fight for it.
