sounds very familiar...I'm 31 weeks pregnant and had the same problem early on in pregnancy. Unfortunately, that's just part of being preggo. I usually added lemon to my water or flavoring. Gingerale also tasted good (and helped with my nausea). I also washed my mouth out with mouthwash several times a day which seemed to help. Fortunately, pregnancy is only temporary. Good luck!

My pregnancy started just like yours. No throwing up but an awful taste in my mouth all day! When I researched it, it's usually caused by the hormonal changes going on right now. I was chewing 1/2 stick of wrigley's gum ( the kind in the green package). That helped alot. Try to avoid sugar-free gum because too many of those give you the runs. I would always brush my teeth too.
People also suggested gingerale or sugared ginger.

Dysgeusia is known as a change in your sense of taste. It can be described as a sour taste or more commonly, mettalic. It's really common in pregnancy and is caused mainly becaused of increased estrogen levels.
I dealt with this early in my pregnancy. It does seem to calm down a bit when your hormone level calms down a bit. In the mean time I constantly brushed my teeth & TOUNGE and ate anything sour that could break through that awful taste....pickles, sour candies and citrus drinks helped tremendously. I heard they also help with saliva production which may dilute the taste.
Good Luck to you! I wish you the best during your pregnancy!

yes i know it sucks!! I'm 15 weeks and 1 day and have been having this problem for weeks now. I haven't been sick or anything like that but I think it may just be the acid in your stomach or something. I know i don't have an cavities or anything like that so i don't know what it is for sure. the other day i even brushed my teeth flossed and brushed them again and within 30 mins my breath was gross. oh well i guess i'll just have to live with it.

try flossing, bacteria in your mouth get worse during pregnancy & teeth can decay faster. good oral hygene is very important at this time.
if that's not it, it may be due to a change in your stomach acids (same type of thing that may make someone vomit). try taking a tums or sipping on mint tea, and bring it up with your doctor, they might have further suggestions.
also, if you have any congestion then you may have a sinus infection, you can use saline spray for that.

congrats on the baby !
you can try raw mango(not ripe fruit) clean it remove the green skin and cut it into pieces then sprinkle some salt on it.
you can munch on it a little when you get that taste.
it certainly helps with the bad taste in the mouth.
but dont take too much mango though. keep it around 2 or 3ounces/day.

Yeah i actually went to a dentist and he said it was gingivitis. He prescribed me a mouthwash, but I just use listerine because, it wasnt safe for pregnant woman. Its common w/pregnant woman though, and I always go to the dentist. Just use a mouthwash, floss and brush 2 times a day. My taste was almost like a metal w/blood.

Are you taking pre-natal vitamins? I noticed that the ones my doc described left a really sour/metallic taste in my mouth. I switched to OTC pre-natals and that awful taste went away.
If you're taking pre-natals, talk with your OBGYN about switching brands/types. It seems some of them are alot higher in iron content and such and can result in that funky taste.
Best of luck to you!

Yes, I have heard of a metallic taste in your mouth while you are pregnant. I am not sure why it happens to some people. It did not happen to me!

I had this problem with my 3rd child. Everyone looked at me funny when I made mention of it. Then I switched my prenatal vitamins to chewables... sounds silly, but it worked! Ask your doctor about them chances are he will change your vitamin prescription.
