Masturbation is a completely normal activity. It is not something to ever feel guilty about! It is very natural as a healthy exploration of your body and sensuality. There are no negative effects from it. It is indeed a form of relief of sexual tension as well as a form of pleasurable self-stimulation. It is a normal activity for people of all ages and is to be performed discreetly as in, privately. I am concerned that you express hatred of yourself. Consider the information you have received about masturbation. Has it been negative? Have you been given messages that lead you to believe that guilt is the correct response to this very normal and healthy activity? Do not worry. Masturbation is a completely normal and healthy activity.

Your parents only tell you stuff like that cause they thinks its dirty, or nasty, or they say you will grow hair on your palms or go blind ALL FALSE!! Not only is it healthy its fun and relaxing and enjoyable for both girls and guys, you should not feel guilty or bad for masturbating! The up side is that its fun and exciting and enjoyable, the downside is, there are no downsides to it! You Will find its more fun the more you do it and the more enjoyable it is! you have nothing to fear and nothing can go wrong! Just don't do it too much lol lol but its fun and exciting, so you have no worries! By all means masturbate!

There's a passing Biblical reference by Moses telling men not to let their semen touch the ground, but he was only encouraging the men to use their sex drives to have intercourse and make as many more Hebrews as possible so they wouldn't be outnumbered by their enemies. Some religions take that our of context and to mean masturbation is a sin. The truth is that nearly 95% of all guys have masturbated regularly. Some say it relieves tension, but whether there is a positive benefit to it, it's certanly harmless and is the very best way to deal with the physical and emotional pressure of an adolescent sex drive. Please don't hate yourself for doing what your natural hormones lead you to do, what every boy you know does. OK?

masturbation is both normal and healthy; no one shoudl ever feel guilty or get all freaky just because they masturbate. Fact is almost every normal healthy guy (and gal too) on the planet will masturbate from time to time; some more than others.

So if you want to:
a) lower the frequency of wet dreams
b) get to know your sexual responses
c) reduce the risk of prostate cancer
d) lower your risk of STD's
e) reduce the chance of pregnancy resulting from your orgasms
f) keep your sexual tension under control
and
g) just plain feel good

then feel free to masturbate daily and enjoy your little pleasures knowing it is actually good for you.

No one would believe me if I said I didn't need to and never really thought about it. I'm 19 turning 20 *sigh* Yeah I was raised in catholic school but the people I hang out with don't necessarily "follow the rules" if you catch my drift. I guess I'm just more mentally capable of resisting.

Mind over matter. If you hated it don't do it. "Patient: Doc my arm hurts when I do this what should I do?" "Doc: Stop doing that."

I'm not going to poke fun at you.......but come on Penguin, it really sounds like you've been getting some awful bias.....as well as false information. Just whose society (or planet) (OOPS.....I said I wouldn't do that.....OK......Seriously now) do you come from, that masturbation is "shunned"? Is that why the business end, concerning that topic, is doing awfully well finanicially, to be such a shunned subject..You sound pretty smart....go to the Library.....find that gigantic dictionary that sit's in every Library, look it up.............LATER.............

Advantages:

1. No risk of STD's,
2. You can't get yourself pregnant.
3. As Mark Twain said "There's two type of people, those that do, and those that lie about it."

Its a normal body function, like most things, it can be abused it taken too far.

It is neither healthy or unhealthy. What can it do for you? It makes you feel good. If it isn't making you feel good, then skip it. There is no reason to hate yourself for doing something that is pretty much natural and doesn't hurt anything. That said, there is no need to do it if you don't want to. It's your choice.
