It happens to me all the time. I'm not always sure how to read people sometimes until it's too late. I believe you can't have to many true friends and I will do everything possible to keep the ones I have. My friends are not considered expendable! :)

I have very few close friendships. It's hard to create good lasting friendships these days, so yeah it hurts like hell when you misread them. I think you just have to know your boundaries with people. They can't hurt you if you don't let them.

I was severely burned recently by someone I thought was a good friend. It hurt a lot, especially since I laid my soul open over the most painful aspect of my life. I said something in anger that I later apologized for then asked for forgiveness. This person, while claiming to be a good Christian, refused my apology.

oh definately, like when you thought someone was a friend to find out that they are only a self serving opportunist, that doesn't say what she thinks or feels but then blurts out anything to hurt anothers feelings.
