Don't knives also kill? In fact, being stabbed is much more damaging than being shot. So why not ban knives as well when in reality they do more physical harm than guns?

For those of you who say that guns have no purpose unlike knives, how about for hunting and self-defense?

Guns and other weapons don't hurt, mindless people do.

They ignore things like this because they just want to ban guns. They'll never stop until they take our freedom away. The FBI reports that there are more murders committed with hammers, and baseball bats than guns. But the left wing just wants to ignore that stuff, and scream at you and force their opinion on you like they usually do. They're just childish, and I chalk it all up to immaturity. I'm sure if they had their way, they'd ban all these "assault weapons". They say that banning assault weapons will force criminals to work with less dangerous weapons. And they ban "high capacity" magazines, and say it'll prevent criminals from firing off large amounts of ammunition and interrupt the spray off bullets. Yeah, like criminals will follow the law. You know what they should do? Make it illegal to be a criminal! Then that will force criminals to retire, and stop being criminals. You see how stupid their logic is? Banning guns will only affect citizens, because THEY follow the law. But criminals will still get the big guns, because they don't care about the law, and criminals DON'T follow the law. So while criminals and the government have big guns and big ammo, citizens will be stuck with limited firepower, and it'll be exactly what our four fathers wanted to prevent. A world where the government and the citizens were as powerful as each other is a world our four fathers wants for us. Our four fathers knew that whoever had the projectile weapons would have the power, and it is still true today. They were smart men who knew the future of the world. And wanted this to be a free, secure country.

Oh, we'll get around to knives too. No doubt forks, they're sharp, we can go back to eating with our fingers. It'll go great with the blank vacant look in our children's eyes...

More of us die in cars every day than by any act of violence - we going to outlaw those too? Or, perhaps not, as long as someone's making a buck off the fact that they're dangerous.

And to the comment about fried food - good god don't start.

I'm over 21, if I want to eat fried pork fat and smoke and drink and endanger myself - that's my right. I think skiing is stupid - have any idea how many people a year get injured skiing?? Should I push to have it outlawed? Or hey, here's a wild idea, perhaps I just won't go skiing and let other folks decide for themselves. What a concept! What about my neighbors dousing thier yards with chemicals then worrying about second hand smoke? DId anyone ask what I wanted in my water? It's ridiculous, and has no end.

The reason we have the right to own guns is to protect ourselves from the government getting too powerful. So, sure, give that up - let the only folks with guns be the ones in office - good plan...

Arrgghh...why does this upset me so? Why this need to limit ourselves? Why are we so afraid of ourselves?

And if I hear one more person that there ought to be a law about something I swear I'll be ill. We have so many laws now nobody even knows what they are - how about we edit our existing laws, sort, refine and toss the useless ones -enforce the ones left, and go from there? No more laws until we clean up the crap we've got.

Be Patient. They'll get around to knives. England has already banned large kitchen knives because " there is no reason anyone needs a knife that big".

They have very very strict gun laws but I guess they aren't working so they will take away large kitchen knives next. Then come the Cricket bats.

My guns have only killed game animals. My duty gun didn't even kill anyone.

Knives are an utility that can be manufactured quite easily, when guns requires engineerings and very has very precise technical requirements. Which means, that they are utterly design to do ONLY harm or kill. Knife can be used in forest for survival, while guns can only help you to kill off wild animals. When setting a fire camp is jump enough to get rid of the predators. So all in all, guns should be better controlled at least, as not to fall in the hands of those that are not mature enough to make good used of it!! Guns are just not toys, and knifes have so many more utilities.

I can not shoot you from a mile away. You know it will be all cool if somehow the good guys wore guns when the bad guys attack.

We should not ban guns because it will turn underground like banned substances.

Many liberals cant think for themselves, (especially since the advent of government controlled schools) they are taught to depend on government to solve all of thier problems, when they see sombody with a gun, who isn't part of a government agency they think that it is evil and criminal. Only the government, in a liberals mind should have power, (this is why they hate the rich, they think that all wealth should go to the government, to be redistributed to the poor) the people are just subjects of the government, not to be empowered.

I am a liberal who does not think that guns should be banned. If someone really wants to get a gun they can find a way, and when that person breaks into your house you had better hope you have a gun too.

actually most of us say we should just have logical gun control.. not ban them.. and guess what? There is logical control on knives as well.. you aren't allowed to walk around town with a Bouie Knife (sp?) and you shouldn't be able to put a Howitzer on your Jeep... yup, that sounds just plain out rational to me.
