I have been off birth control for four years, we've tried to get pregnant, but it's never happened. As of today, my period is eight days late. I took a test and it was negative. I called my OB/GYN and he said to wait one more week, and test again. Either way, come in for a check up and see what's going on, unless I start my period. Have any of you tested negative for that long and still been pregnant? Thanks in advance to everyone who answers.

It could be too early...so just do as your doctor tells you.
If you're trying to conceive, which I believe you are, talk to your doctor about fertility pills. Clomid is a great one...I took it after a year of trying and got pregnant the next month. Now beware that you could have multiples with Clomid, I only had one child, but the chances of having multiples are great. Not sure if yo want to go that route. But look on the other side of this coin...if you want more than one, this could be your answer...have a couple and you're done with it.

I have a friend who spent over $100 on HPTs and they kept coming back negative. She even had a blood test and that was negative. She went in for an exam and the doctor told her she was 4 months pregnant!
My husband and I are trying. We have 2 children. My second one is 14 months old. My milk has been dried up for 6 weeks and never had a period yet (I even had the cramps you get right before you start) and nothing. Every test I take comes back negative.
You're not alone. We're hoping I am and it was just too early for the test to work. Good luck!

I tried for 3 years to get pregnant now i know thats not as long as you but it ends with good news. after three years i was so frustrated and upset that I decided screw it I give up... 6 months later I was ina shopping mall and suddenly felt very faint I looked over at my friend and said I dont know what it is but I've been sick for like a week now. she said maybe your pregnant. I went home and took a test immediatly it said no. I was mad at myself for getting my hopes up but 3 weeks later i had not started my period and took another test it was positive. I went to the doctor and found out I was 2 months along. so, it is possible.... but please dont et your hopes up. you never know the body is a weird thing. I hope that you will have the joy of being pregnant and that everything goes well.

I didnt have that, but a couple of my friends have. ONe was 7 months pregnant before she found out! SHe still had periods(she isnt regular). She felt a kick...went to the hospital and was 26 weeks pregnant.
ANother didnt get a positive HPT till she was almost 4 months.
Both had healthy babies.
Its possible that you might not have enuff HCG for the home test to detect. Wait a week then test again.

Yes. I did. I took a test (urine only) at the dr's office, and took another one a week later at home that were both negative. A week later, took another one and it was positive. The doctor couldn't believe it at first because he had done a 'fern test' earlier and showed I wasn't even ovulating.
Now I have a 2 1/2 year old! :)

You might be pregnant, and YES you can be only 8 days late an a hpt will not pick up HCG. So, keep your chin up girl!
Some women don't test pos on a hpt for months...blood tests are the real answer.

i normally have a 33 day cycle one cycle i went 38 days. I was freaking out and convinced i was pregnant ( i had taken a test and saw a light line, i think it was a evap line now) I was just so annoyed i wanted my period to either just come already or get a 100% positive on a hpt.

yes, I tested too early, test was negative. Took another one the following week, and it was positive. Some women's bodies take longer to produce the hormone that gives the test a positive result.

i can give you support on the matter because im going through the same thing i was on depo and now i am 9 days late and my hpt came up neg im waiting to retest so i hope for your sake your pregnant it sounds like you are if you need someone to talk to in the same possition as you

Yes, lovestogarden, it very well can turn up positive in a week or so. I have some good vibes for you , right now. Not that I'm psychic, but I'm thinking very POSITIVE thoughts. I'll say a prayer for you and you will see. Just don't get stressed, wait it out.
