I am finding my own houses by looking on line which I am fine with....and driving by to see if I want to look first. THEN I am calling her to make appointments. Am I being too pushy to expect an appointment that day or the next?

If the house is occupied, the Realtor has to work out a showing time with the occupant, and some (especially tenants) are not that cooperative. I have contacted some sellers that say "Give me 20 minutes" and some say call me tomorrow or the next day, we'll set something up - and everything in between. My favorite was "I have family coming in from out of town, call me in 2 weeks." Now that is not a cooperative seller.

If a house is vacant, I can typically get you in to see it within a few hours.

You are not being too pushy, but bear in mind if you are not getting in the home in a timely manner, it may not be your agent's fault.

I am also looking for a new house. I am doing the very same thing you are doing. I actually have had a couple of Realtors tell me to drive by the house before scheduling an appointment. I assume that this would save Realtors a lot of time. Many of the houses on the internet do not look the same when you actually see them, by driving by to see if the outside of the house interests you enough to look inside saves the Realtor and you a lot of time. I think the Realtor should show you the house as quickly as he/she is able to get in the house. The Realtors I have spoken with say that they work all hours of the day and night. They can't make any money if they aren't showing the houses. Also, you have to think if someone is more pushy than you are, they are the ones that will get the first bid on the house, which could have been your dream home. Good luck with your house-hunting!!

You're not being pushy - I would just call the Realtor right away when you see a place on-line you like, then they should respond w/in an hour or so at least updating you on how the call to the seller went. Maybe the Realtor has already been inside the house and will know if you will like it or not. Calling your Realtor first will save you time driving by places & doing too much of the realtor's job. Getting in the house depends on the sellers availability, but your realtor should be able to get a request in right away.

You can only ask but sometimes there are reasons why the house can't be shown. I wouldn't allow a lock box on my house and had to be there for every showing so the appointments had to fit into my schedule. You're realtor should know if there are special requirements and let you know what they are. If the realtor is just not getting back to you in a timely manner, then you need to find another realtor.

It all depends on a few things. Most realtors would love to look at houses with you. It is hard sometimes getting in with the homebuyer, ecspecially on weekends. Also If you call your realtor and want to view that day they may possibly have appointments already. Most should be able to meet the next day. they will usually work with you though as best they can to accomdate you. If you find that your realtor can never meet up with you then maybe find a new realtor.

No, but do bear in mind that, in some markets, showing times are determined by the sellers. That's the way it is in my particular market. Sometimes, in spite of my best efforts, the sellers refuse to show the house when requested.

However, assuming that the sellers are cooperative, you are not expecting too much at all from your realtor. I've been known to show a house within an hour of a phone call.

No, but it depends on how many clients your realtor has. You could try finding one that has less clients currently.

also the scheduling isnt always about your realtor. Many homes for sale still have people living in them and they have set certain days/times for showings and also there may be other showings scheduled for when you want to go.

no pushy BUT what about the agents schedule. Do you really expect them to drop everything- what about their other commitments. A 24 hour notice is plenty of time for any agent to accommodate your showing. Remember agents have a life too.

Usually within 24 hours, assuming normal business days (excluding holidays and weekends.) but if you aren’t happy with your realtor, consider switching to someone else. remember their job is supposed to be to serve you, not the other way around
