i usually feed em an algea tablet every other day..but that ran out..so ive been feeding him tubifex worms every other day now...he seems to want it everynite now(its his favorit) is it suppose to be a treat mainly?

I'd give it as a treat only yes, and if you can just not feed him this at all, I'd do that. I stopped getting tubifex after I learned most tubifex worms are raised up in septic conditions and I can only imagine what crap they could be passing on.

While I don't have the same general dislike of feeding tubifex worms in general, I agree 100% with Jon V that it's not the best food for a pleco, or really any fish. Use them purely as a treat type of thing but the pleco really needs mostly plant matter as the core of his diet, so get him his algae wafers as soon as you can. In the mean time, he would LOVE some lettuce, spinach, cucumber or any type of squash.

tubifex worms are notorius for carring dieases. So i would avoid them. Alage waffers are best.
