The water has turned a pinkish orange... but it doesnt look dirty. It's clear! Why is it like this and sould I clean out their tank? I really only clean it when it gets too much algea and it really doesnt have any algea because it's small, has a small filter, no light on it, and an algea eating snail (also orange if that matters)... but I know that the more you clean the tank the bigger they get, and I dont want them to get so big I need a new tank for them... but I also dont think it's healthy to be swimming around in pink water....

Oh and also, I dont think it's a reflection thing because I have the same exact tank only in orange on the other side of the book shelf holding a red-tailed shark and that's perfect!
The tank holding the goldfish is purple if that matters at all...

Most fish dont get larger but most goldfish do. My mom cleaned my godlfish bowl so much for me when I was young (like...5) and they got huge. But when she stopped cleaning it so much, they stopped growing. lol

Could be the food you're giving them. That's what my first inclination is, anyways. You might be feeding them too much, or the feces may be turning the water slightly foul and thus causing the discoloration. Either way.. I've never heard of cleaning a tank causing either snails or fish to get larger. And cleaning the tank is very important for the health of your fish.

cleaning the tank does not affect the size of your fiish... what does affect the size of the fish is time, and heat (higher temps age the fish quicker, meaning it gets bigger). How big is your tank? I'm assuming it's a 5 gallon bow front (I have the purple one too ;) ) I also need to mention that goldfish need a lot of water, as they get bigger they produce more ammonia and waste, and it condenses in the water without regular water changes. I'd suggest getting a water test kit, to make sure your parameters are okay... The pink probably is from leftover food, but if there's leftover food then you're over-feeding them, and that can make them sick too (Again, too much ammonia).

with small tanks and goldfish, change 20% of the water every 3-4 days. more than that can stress them out. when the fish get to 3-4 years old, it'll be time to get them a bigger home, try for 10 gallons PER FISH. yes, it's a lot of water, but it's what they really do need.

good luck!!!!

p.s. I just looked at my purple eclipse (which I also have a 6 month old white and red goldfish in) and it's got a pink hue to the water too, but only when the light's off. It's because the purple is transparent and the light is shining thru it.... haha!!!

hello... properly if its a bowl then fill the bowl and pass away approximately 5 inches from above... and supply them 2 balls of foodstuff two times in an afternoon.. in basic terms sprinkle the foodstuff interior the pot the fish will come and the consume foodstuff it self.... for the reason that its a bowl with u then u ought to scrub the bowl as quickly as u see the colour substitute or substitute it two times a week.. the rocks must be delicate like in texture not tough u can decide for small pebbles not enormous ones . properly the foodstuff relies upon on what that they were ingesting in the past u offered them .. the substitute of foodstuff would reason injury from time to time so ask the guy what he were offering ur fishes in the past u offered them and ask the guy even with regards to the quantity he were giving them ... its not substantial to maintain a plant yet whilst u choose ur bowl to seem stable u can use flora which u can discover at an aquarium keep nevertheless. properly it ability that it truly is drained and that they are taking some relax not something to rigidity in the event that they are nevertheless for sometime. properly its not available to assert whilst a fish is unwell . yet u can discover whilst its gonna die turns the different way up . yep if u don't have a lid then its ok yet i advise u to purchase a oxygen pump quickly as a results of fact it would be extra effective .and the pump will help in long existence for ur fishes ... fishes breath by using gills so they take oxygen from water it self . so keep changing water two times a week... each and every of the final with ur fishes.................. take-care

If your fish are in a small container and are not growing, that means you are killing them. Goldfish are supposed to get a foot long and live for 10+ years. Each Goldfish needs about 30 gallons of water. Give your fish to somebody who actually cares about them and is willing to give your fish the proper space. The pink water is probably the begining of an algae bloom, you need to clean the tank.

thats pretty wierd!!!! you shure it isn't the lights???? also though if the gravel is pink sometimes it gets crushed into dust, like when you just get it, and those may float around and give the water a pink tinge, hmmmmm... well one time my little cousin put blue food coloring in my tank, it didn't harm the fish but it made the water really!!!!! blue for awile!!!!, the only other thing i can think of is blood!!!!! maybe one of you fish has an internal problem and blood is coming out of the anus or gills???? idk??? thats pretty funky man!!! maybe try and go to petsmart of something and get a free water test, maybe theres too many chemicals in the tank or something??? wierd man!!!!!!!

Odds are it's natural dyes from the food youa re feeding or a build up of protiens in the water. Either way a water change will cure the problem.
