I'm looking to get a new cell phone from my current provider (Verizon). What are some good ways to get them to give me a good deal? Should I bluff and say I'm thinking of switching services? Should I do it over the phone or at a store? Are there any sure-fire ways to get them to throw in free stuff? Thanks!

Yes, bluff and tell them you are thinking of switching... they will probably send you to their retention department. It's unlikely they will give you a whole new phone (unless you spend alot of money per month with them) but they will probably at least give you a rebate or some free air time. Just don't push it TOO far or eventually they will just be like "Okay, go to the other company".

One other thing... the politer and nicer you are, the more likely you are to get free stuff. Truly. The more jerkish you act, the less they will want to help you.

do it over the phone. call *611 from your phone...tell them you are checking out other companies, and you want their best deal or else. Also, you could say...well, one company offered me a free phone with their plan and I really think it sounds good, but if you all could offer me a free phone or reduced price for renewing my 2 year contract, then i might consider staying with Verizon.

Tell them that the other Verizon store offered to give you (whatever you want them to give you) and ask if you should just go back there instead.

Most sales people will try to give you anything they can to keep you there

The store will make about $250 on your contract so they will do what they can to keep you.

If your on a contract where they give you a number of minutes and texts and you havent missed a playment for it they should reward you as a loyal customer. you should get more minutes and text and a better cell for less money a month and i think bluffing them into changing your network could be a good idea.

you would be able to desire to each get between the hot T-cellular plans, with the "My Faves" characteristic the place you could %. 5 people who you could consistently call for loose. this is in all probability not nicely worth it to get a family participants plan, and in all probability not a stable concept while you're only pals.
