Lets put it this way .... the countries that use incense use it around babies. I do burn some in my kitchen with my 1 yr old around - but - I make sure that I either have the back door open or a window. If it starts to get too hazy then I take her out of the room.
Basically, if you feel that it's a bit too much for you - then it'll be the same for her.

Good luck,
Bev

Incense makes me gag and cough, and I'm an adult, so I would not. However, in many countries (heck, even Catholics), burning of incense is part of a traditional religious ceremony and babies are usually there, but I've never seen babies under about 7 or 8 months. I don't know if this is on purpose or coincidental. Really common in India though and they don't seem to have worse lungs than anybody else.

Pagan moms who use incense in their rituals don't seem to have a problem with it outdoors. Personally, I'd wait a little longer and then test it. If you have a preemie, doctors don't even recommend burning wood in the fireplace for the first year.

I would say give it a try and see how he reacts. If he doesn't like it then stop. We have a tendency to burn candles in the bathroom every now and a gain and our child is 3 months old.

No!

You wouldn't smoke a cigarette around your baby, would you? (I hope not, at any rate!) Why submit those tiny little lungs to incense? You have no idea what kind of stuff it's giving off, or what they used to make it stink (er, smell) that way.

its probally not teh most harful thing you can do but i woldnt. The smoke in the room can sometimes be intense and its just better to keep children away from any type of smoke. Its just not pure and their little baby lungs should really go with out it.

Probably not, the baby's lungs are still developing, and can be easily damaged if the baby inhales any of the smoke.

No I would not recommend it. It is toxic to any newborn to breathe in smoke from any source.
