No, but the movie is a lot funnier and there are a couple twists in the movie that have a stronger impact if you've seen the first movie. Other than that and the jokes referring to the first movie, you can see it without missing too much. I still would recommend seeing the first one just to see how the story got to where it is though. As for the voyage of the dawn treader, I haven't seen it but the book was pretty good and the previews look great.

no, it was about a programmer who was fired, by an unscrupulous minded individual, who had stolen the programmers ideas (his games) and used that to gain the presidentail position within the company.
Jeff Bridge's character (Flynn), knows that there is proof hidden in the mainframe of the computer at ENCOM. So he breaks into the computer; the mainframe realizes what Flynn is doing then transports him into the gameworld where he meets TRON. Tron is on a mission to change the code given to him by Bruce Boxlightner's character ( Alan Bradley ), to release all of the security restrictions put into place by the Master Control computer (mainframe), and reveal the truth behind who created the games (Flynn)
The movie is basically about how stealing someone's ideas and claiming that they are your own, can come back and bite you in the @$$; and that relying 100% on a computer to manage security can be a serious mistake.

Kind of. It really isn't that deep of a film. It's basically a precurser to The Matrix. It says that there is a world inside the computer, where computer programs live. A guy is then transported into this world, and has to play in video games to stay alive, and find a way to escape.
It's a Disney film, and began the whole CGI craze.

yes ive seen it, it was ok for an 80s movie, and it would be cool if they redid it. if you ever played kingdom hearts 2 there is a part in the game where you go to the tron world and get to use him in your party. it was kind of cool, you go to do the racing part. anyways, it was just one of those fun early technology movies.

Not really. It doesnt have a deeper meaning.
It is from the early days of video games and actore represented the different parts of a "Wizard of Oz" type world inside of a computer.
The effects were ahead of their time for the 80's.

In a way. It was an OK movie. A possible remake would be a good idea. Considering the technology we have now. Imagine the spec/effects.
