Aren't we a cheeky load of "bastards?"
I have been asking the same question for the last couple of years.
I think we should be grateful that with technology we can at least see things via the Internet, that maybe 5 years ago we would have thought would be impossible.
Recently, I checked on 192.com and then checked out my address and found it was more up to date and even clearer than Google Earth and showed my latest car outside my driveway. I'm sad as well!!!!

Yes things are updated. SE England has recently been updated to higher resolution, the pix are about 2 years old though. Remember that a lot of the hi-res images are in fact aerial photos and not satellite images and there's a lot of work to do to put the jigsaw together for what is essentially a free service.

Most images on Google Earth are 3 - 4 years old.
They're probably working on getting images for places they don't have yet than updating current ones.

The image for my area was updated recently
Originally it was low detail, now it's higher detail, but it's still an old image (buildings that have been knocked down are shown still standing)

Google earth is updated regularly, but with so much surface to cover it may be a long time before you see your plot updated.

it is often as much as date - there are nonetheless many factors that have not been truly lined in any respect. Google does not look to get their very own concepts, which might clarify why you notice NASA abd worldwide sateelite businesses on the backside of a exhibit. i've got considered my abode in reliable and undesirable climate and (my inner Tom Clancy attending to me) i've got finally considered them get reliable factor on the hot London Sub base in CT. basically an occasion ofcourse.

Its not Google that needs to be updated... Be aware that "Satellites" must take pictures of the entire earth to provide such imaging and detail...
It can take a while for satellites to get pictures of all the world...
and Google Earth has no control over satellites...
NASA does ;)

Not only are old satellite/flyover images inevitable, they are also advantageous in terms of privacy issues/complaints and so on.
For example, Google Map's "Street View" thing uses up-to-date imagery. As a result, it has received A LOT of privacy complaints.
