If you have seen Bet about a year ago and seen it now, you would have seen a change in line-up especially in the education department as there has been a change in heads. The (former) BET did have educational values such as black history, black inventions, things that had mishaped black america etc... The new head; however, has found it more profitable to display more music videos and such. Like most things in America, people do the things they do because of money.

All I know is that the current BET de-educates people and they're becoming too ignorant to notice. (the damage is done) They do need educational programs though. I agree. They need to start by cutting out the garbage rap and have black role models star in/create their own shows etc. and set a good example for the youth that looks up to the people on there daily. I’m not one to judge but these rappers know better. They say anything to make a quick dollar without examining the consequences. That gets me pissed!

Well there used to be things like Teen Summit, and all sorts of things like that when I was growing up. But now BET is owned by Viacom, meaning that BET has white owners now, and they are trying to feed our brains with loads and loads of garbage, just like MTV and the rest of the stations.
I haven't watched BET in so long, unless I am watching reruns of Girlfriends of the Wayans Brothers...other than that I am not really into watching a lot of the music videos, or any other thing unless I watch the shows where they honor music legends.
I think that they no longer care about the well being of their viewers, just the dollar signs.

What type of educational programs? I do have educational programs for youths,, but you have to also remember that BET does a whole lot off screen too. Now as far as children's shows, I don't think so. But you have Noggin, Nick jr, Disney, and a few more shows for children already no TV.

From what i've got considered, wager stands for Black entertainment television. If i'm top, then the channel isn't designed to cater to toddlers, yet to youthful adults and older infants, in spite of the undeniable fact that, i began listening to underground hip hop beginning on the age of 9, and found it to be yet another great source for my in seek of of wisdom, alongside with my dictionary interpreting. yet academic classes are extra in all possibility to be discovered on KCET, the character channel, discovery channel and historic past channel. once you're nephew is decrease than 9, i does no longer advise television. It takes lots to diffuse a contaminated techniques.

Because it is owned by the people that own MTV now. And they are not interested in educating anyone, as you can see from the programming on MTV.

It used to be black owned & it started out as a channel w/educational programs.
Now it's white owned, and the images you see are exactly the images they want you see of black ppl. And the black ppl on there now share the blame b/c they are contributing to the degradation & stereotypes.
That's why I don't watch it.

Because it is no longer Black or family owned...
When it was it did have a lot, like RuDogs (these singing Rasta dogs, like a type of Sesame Street) and Story Porch (old fashioned type stories told in the manner of black people in the South since the time of slavery)
