I am straight..... and I dont use the term straight lifestyle.
I could care less if someone is gay and I have friends and co-workers that are gay. Some people just need a little more attention than others.

I see what you mean. It's like how the term "sexual preference" is used to indicate that homosexuality is somehow a choice (but straight people are just "that way"??). Terms like this are examples of the numerous double standards that exist regarding homosexuality/heterosexuality.

It's definitely a loaded term. It ties in with the "Christian" idea that gay people are somehow faking it just to irritate the pious and subvert society. Or, supposing that they allow that gay people are born that way, they argue that it's still a "choice" on their part to "live the lifestyle," i.e. have sex rather than remain celibate their entire lives, or - worse yet - enter into some kind of sham hetero relationship that insults and injures both parties.
Incidentally, what in HELL is wrong with this "Joseph C" freak? (Rhetorical question. I'm sure we ALL know why he's so invested in this "issue.")

I agree with you entirely. Lifestyle suggests it is something you choose. "Oh by the way today I woke up and chose to be gay". It needs to be wiped out from the vocabulary when referring to homosexual people. There are lots of things that need to be revised...but that is sometime in the future..but I do agree with you.

Who are you hanging out with that "Gay Lifestyle" is considered a term? I bet a night out with your friends is just wacky!

Sure it makes sense. It's a lifestyle choice, just like any other choice we make in our lives.
And if you don't think there's a difference between homosexuality and heterosexuality, then I think you may be doing something wrong.

Excellent question!
I have thought the same thing - many times. "Style" implies choice. I did not chose to be gay just as hetero folks did not chose to be hetero.
I did not chose my eyes to be hazel colored. Does a hetero chose to have a certain color eyes? The answer is "no!" When we all come into this world, we get what we get!!

Oh gosh I hoped I didn't offend anyone. I would call being gay a lifestyle but I didn't not know what it really meant. Thanks for informing me. I will call it a sexual orientation. Please forgive me.

This term has been stereotyped to mean someone who is promiscuous, prone to using drugs, and is unable to have an emotional attachment.
So, yes, I wish it would go away.
