What the hell is footskating?

I watch Mtv a lot and they have these irritating ads about footskating. I have absolutely NO idea what it is and none of my friends can tell me what it is since they dont know themselves. This one guy at my school does it but I think not even he knows what it is. Please help me.

It's what it sounds like - it's just like skateboarding, but without a board. Sound stupid? Here's a little video of it:
