yes u can, just don put the monitor far away like a tv, it was designed to be viewd close up

But you do not need to "sit far away" or whatever the other guys is talking about. You could sit 2 feet away from an HD tv and it would not make a difference.

yes there are cables that are dvi to hdmi(is what hd cable is called) u cang et them like $40 sometimes or chepaer
