Someone told the police you paid the teens to fight. Detectives don't have time to go around asking questions of random people. If you are not guilty, you should not worry. If they really thought you were guilty, they would be talking to everyone except you.
bob: you listed the US Constitution as your source. I read my copy at least twice a year. Have you ever even SEEN a copy? NOTHING you said is in there.

What you hopefully find out is that the police try to get people to talk in order to arrest them. Never talk to the police no matter how innocent it may seem. 94 percent of people in jail are there only because they talked to the police.
Police most often try to make a case work around someone they only suspect of doing wrong rather than actually looking for criminals. Its the lazy way out. Not all police are like this, but the majority are and that is why you don't talk to the police without a lawyer or your parents. Police are breaking that law if they try to talk to you without your parents present if you are under 18. If your over 18 dont talk without a lawyer.

Presuming you are in America, then simply assert your right to remain silent. Cops don't just randomly pick people to ask that sort of question about, so they probably got a report or a call about you. Stay calm, and simply contact an attorney and decline any offer to speak with the police. (I keep my attorney's card in my wallet, behind my drivers license, so when they ask me if they can talk to me, I simply say "Call that man, and I'll do whatever he suggests."
Remember, without a warrant or probably cause, you can always say No to a search or when a cop asks if you will come to the station. If you get a super prick, then make sure you have witnesses who heard you say No. Be respectful as long as they are respectful to you.

The detective would not have come to your house if there were not an ounce of truth to the claim. tell what you know and clear the air.
