I've seen articles like that. They're usually in the magazines that consider Hollywood gossip as actual, hard-core news. They're probably referring to things like not wearing tight jeans, shorts and skirs that barely cover the butt, shirts that show half the cleavage, etc. Personally, I don't think those clothes look good on anybody, any size, any age and just makes the person look as though they're trying too hard.
In May, my husband and I went to the afternoon show of Les Miserables (GREAT play). I'm wearing my standard travel dress-- Black tubeish that folds small and doesnt' wrinkle. (We had also gone to see "Inherit the Wind" that evening and we didn't have time to go to the hotel and change, or I would have at least worn my khaki skirt, white blouse and loafers for the afternoon show; With the way my feet were, I should have anyway.) There were kids there in shorts and Ts. Yikes. Even at church, on a Sunday morning, I see middle school and high school girls wearing low cut shirts, and tiny skirts. Yikes. (Some of them are bad enough that I can see down their shirts and know what color bra they're wearing.) I'm still not keen on wearing jeans to church, but since I don't have any dress maternity pants, I wear my dark blue jeans with blouses and loafers. The aforementioned dress works too. (It's stretchy.)
To a point, I don't care what I wear. I make sure I'm put together and my clothes are nice, even if I'm "just" going to the grocery store. It's how I was raised. I have a maternity shirt that shows too much cleaveage. I should play with it to pin it together.
Anyway, I agree with you.

As a man I have to say that when I see anyone in jeans there is no problem, excluding traditionally "dress-up venues." I can also pass off a not-so-proper outfit by a teen as inexperience , but when I see an experienced women show up dressed inappropriately I find this to be a turn-off. In the end I would say pay attention to what you significant other likes. This should be the opinion you are concerned with. If I or my wife don't like what the other is wearing we let each other know. This way we feel comfortable with each other, and usually keep each other in check on appropriateness.
For those of you out there talking about mid-drifts on 40 yr olds being nasty, I submit some examples: Demi Moore, Modonna, Sharon Stone, Halle Berry. These are just a few of the famous over 40 actresses out there there whose mid-drift looks just as good as any 20 something.

It is good that you are proud of your country - yet it is not so good that you cannot see its faults. Iran is indeed a great nation with a great people, but it has a long way still to go. For instance - if women would not visit stadia then why do you continue to forcibly stop them? Surely women should have the choice whether to or not? Why do the basij arrest or simply beat up those who do not wear headscarfs - yes you say they don't have to wear them to the same extent as in other Muslim nations, yet the basij will still punish those who do not. Why does Iran not have true democracy, but instead have a puppet president who is actually controlled by the Mullahs? Why not have free elections allowing anyone who wants to to stand, unlike the last elections when many perfectly reasonable people were disqualified? If music is allowed in Iran, why are bands such as O-hum banned because of "contraversial" lyrics, despite their lyrics being written by Hafez thousands of years ago? Also, while the majority of people in Iran are normal law abiding people, there are some who DO seek the destruction (not in a rhetorical sense) of Israel, and for Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. There are some who do support terrorists. Iran should no longer ignore these people - if you are to be trusted you need to show goodwill in bringing to rein these people who will undermine those rational people who oppose them. If Iran is to truly realise its potential to be a great nation you need to overcome these problems - not all of your problems are caused by America spreading lies about you. Yes, an unbelievable amount of people are ignorant of Iran and Persian culture (especially about you not being arabs!) - and the sad fact is many people are happy that way. It is easier to hate people than it is to like them, easier to exploit your enemies than trade with friends. In the current climate it seems things will get a lot worse before they can get better.

I am only 12 years old, but this is my opinion on the situation. I agree that people should wear what they like, but there are appropriate clothes for your age, and there are inappropriate clothes for your age. If a forty year old woman went out in tight jeans and a low-cut top, that is just gross in my opinion. Women can look beautiful and stylish at any age. Forty year old women don't have to look older than they are. Older women can look modern and gorgeous while still dressing their age.
Hope you agree. Bye!

it doesnt as long as you're happy. some people may think you look silly but i think thats it. i did have a teacher who was in her mid 30's who dressed like a teen. it was odd and students thought she was weird because of it. she had pigtails and the butterfly clips in her hair, too much blue eyeshadow, and a blue dress with mary janes. i guess people expect a certain amount of professionalism as you get older. you gain wisdom with time right? maybe people feel the way you dress should reflect that.
for example for an older woman to dress provocatively would suggest that she did not grow and mature much over the years. because if you were older you would figure that you wouldnt want that type of shallow attention for yourself. wouldnt it? thats what i find to be most logical.
but if it makes you happy, hey whatever floats your boat.

Well i think at 40 you are supposed to dress a little more mature (its pretty embarrasing for your kids if you dress like them but also more ambarrasing if you dress like you spent all your money on clothes for them and not on your self). Clothes make pp feel comfortable but you arent supposed to take those pp seriously. They are just trying to make a paycheck just like you

i think appearence is everything,
makes a massive statement about who you are and sometimes what you do,
the way you look can make a massive difference on how people perceeve you and treat you,
also i find if you look good you feel good,
im verry self conciouse about my apperance and always wish to dress to impress, and carefull to not overdress so i dont seem to love myself and send out the wrong message,
i enjoy looking presentable at times and know people could be looking at me thinking "he looks good"
but hey, thats just me, each to their own realy,
suppose its what makes you feel good in yourself!!!!!!!!
