It is furtherance of our administrations "politics of fear".......
I give you this....by a man who knew how to spread fear among the citizenry:
Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." Hermann Goering, Nazi

I believe that the reports are factual. Al Qaeda has gained a lot of strength by building their forces in the wilds of Pakistan. They did try that massive attack on airliners that were leaving from Britian to America, and they have launched attacks in the UK. They will not give up until they are wiped out.

I don't think they'd be foolish enough to fake a report that Al Qaeda is resurging now. Consider the backlash from bad Iraq intel and you can see why they wouldn't do that. Plus, if Al Qaeda is stronger that does not look good for Bush, because dismantling that organization was one of his goals with the Afghanistan / Iraq wars.

Neither. They are an attempt to undermine the remaining support of the war. Note: The media CLAIMS reports are based on CLASSIFIED reports (aka Information it is illegal for them to have), but give NO source.

Media twaddle. "Resurrgance" implies that there was an actual decline at some point. The steady stream of suicide bombings in Iraq and other countries over the past 6 years would indicate otherwise.
