The connection is the prophecy.

By acting on the prophecy, Voldemort attacked Harry, and gave Harry powers such as Parseltongue and perceiving Voldemort's strongest emotions.

Voldemort marked Harry as his equal, just like the prophecy predicted. They, therefore, have similar abilities but the differences are in their choices in using those abilities.

They have the same wand core, but they choose to use their wands for very different purposes. They both speak Parseltongue... Voldemort chose to use that power to control a Basilisk and attack people, which Harry chose to use that power to stop a snake attack, and to enter the Chamber of Secrets to save Ginny.

harry was always destined to defeat the dark lord. voldemort knew this from a prophecy, and thats why he went after harry as a baby. but when voldemort tried to kill harry, his spell backfired, and when this happened, voldemort transferred some of his powers to harry and also created a connection between them. the connection is just that harry was meant to destroy the dark lord, they have similar traits, and one has to kil the other in the end.

I wonder if it will end up being some type of familial relation or some type of relationship that we wouldn't have guessed from the first 6 books. Not sure what, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is more of a connection than just...the scar, the wands, etc.

Harry Potter's parents were killed when he was an infant by the dark lord, voldermort. harry's parents died defending harry though and because of this a magic spell that voldermort didn't know about protected harry when voldermort tried to kill him. when voldermort used the killing spell (avra kedavra) on harry the magic of his parents death protected him leaving him only with a scar on his forehead. the spell backfired and left voldermort almost dead. this stripped the dark lord of his power and left harry with his trademark lightning bolt scar and his nickname "the boy who lived"

The Dark lord went to kill Harry because he learned that a half blood would take him down. He ended up not killing Harry because of his mom protecting him. Now Harry can feel "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" through his scar.

If Rowling is smart, she will pull a "Luke I am your father" moment. Somehow the Merope side of the Riddle family has to be related to Lily or James.

(PS I am presuming you mean what is the connection OTHER than the prophecy.)
