I just got a 2000 ford focus and Ill admit its not in the best shape but I can afford it so it'll have to do for now. But I'm kind of car retarded. Yesterday my tires started making this god awful squeaking/whistling sound (it sounds like it is just my back right one but idk) anyways it only does it when I break or start to go and it only does it if I have been driving for 15- 20 mins. I dunno what the hell it is. I would normally have my boyfriend's brother or my uncle look at it but ofcourse they both have to be out of town right now so I thought if I could figure it out then it might save me money if I had an idea of what it is. Does anyone on here have a clue of what it may be? Thanks

ok tires do not make high pitched noises unless you're doing 100 mph on the expressway. your problem lies in a metal component. It could be your brake pads need to be replaced. Most brake pads have sensors that will make noise when it's time to replace. It could also be that your rotors are totalled (when you stop from high speeds, does the steering wheel shake rather violently? then it's your rotors) Lastly, check out your wheel bearings (what holds the wheel to the frame of the car).

Sounds like its time to get new break pads. When they wear down to a certain point a small indicator wire is exposed from the rubber and squeeks aginst the drum to warn you that its time to replace them.

well its not your tires but it sounds like you need some break work on the rear wheels or a wheel bearing

its your brake pads the only way to stop the squeaking is replace the pads with quality brake pads. cheap brake pads squeal.

u might want to check your rear brakes to begin with, sounds like they could be worn out and rubbing metal on metal.
