Gladstonebury is apparently attracting too old a crowd, Why how about the bleedingly obvious

Ie it was always the case that the older half with big jobs purchased the tickets.

The younger crowd without the like £150 just to get in and £200-£300 cash needed inside

Used to hop the fence and as well as that the entry fee was cheaper. Much cheaper say 1/3 of the price a decade ago.

Everyone was happy with that arrangement.

The tickets sold out, the youngsters had the thrill of sneaking in (like the older lot who now paid did when they were young).

the security did very well in £5 per person bribes, beer, joints and kisses off girls to let people in. Created a community feeling, the youngsters added to the atmosphere and all the stalls did far better business and the charities did well.

Also no chain store companies taking anythign over like Carling pushing out indi

independants ie Fairy Jennies mulled wine stall etc.

The older lot could keep an eye on and help out the young lot, the young lots made it more fun and passionate.

And when the young lot got older with famnilies and careers then they paid to get in as think too old to hop fences...

So why change this system?

And what other explainations can you account for this

OKOK nuff of the pedantic lets spot typos answers... how about stick to topic...

Another reason I can think of is the crack down on age in rock type clubs which is really stupid by councils and the police etc.

As rock/indi/skatepunk/numetal/goth/emo type clubs generally

Were violence and attiude free.

Few if any drugs

Crowd whilst some drinking most happy with water or pepsi as they came to dance and get into the music not get wasted.

people fall down everyone picks them up, all look out for all not fight for respect.

Good values... Knock on effect on the festivals as all culture really develops 16-18

Hi,I think he must be mad.I am 56 & could still nick in.There can only be one reason to make more money & that will end up with ripping the young ones off.You have said it all the big money men have moved in.In 1969 I went to the Hyde Park Free Concert all the big names were there. In them days there was people I considered old & they certainly enjoyed themselves.Look at some of the oldies that are still rocking.
