About a mile away from where I live is a church way off the Beeton track. One day I was looking at the tombstones, and the epitaph on one of the tombstones moved me quite a bit. It told the storey of a man coming home from work seeing three children in the river Thames apparently there was no one else around so he dived in and managed to save two of the children but in trying to save the third he and the child were sucked down by the current. That brave action would have been totally forgotten if the tombstone had completely worn away. That man put those children first without even thinking about it. Perhaps I'm the only person alive to remember him. Now that's sad.
The event took place in the mid 1800's

I learned a long time ago that you have to love yourself before you can love anyone else. There are still days when I am not pleased with myself, but I know that if I have to be alone for the rest of my life, I can enjoy my own company.

Regardless of the goofball answers you'll likely get to this question the reality is nobody loves anyone or anything more than themselves until they have a kid.
Up to that point they are just plain lying when they say god, family, my dog snuggles etc.

I think we're all self-centered, even if we want to think of others before ourselves. However, we can't really love anyone else if we don't love ourselves. I try to put others before me, but the bottom line is that I always think of myself first. I think it's only natural.

Wife, Kids, Me...although the order is variable depending on mood.
God is NOT of this world, and therefore, although I try to put Him first at all times, He does not fall under the purview of your question.
