Environmentalists silent on threat from water tainted with estrogen
http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=56623
When they netted 123 trout and other fish downstream from the city's sewer plant, they found 101 were female, 12 were male, and 10 were strange "intersex" fish with male and female features.
The main culprits were found to be estrogens and other steroid hormones from birth-control pills and patches that ultimately ended up in the creek after being excreted in urine into the city's sewers.
If you're killing mosquitoes to save people from the West Nile virus, you can count on secular environmentalists to lay down in front of the vapor truck, claiming some potential side effect that might result from the spray." "But if birth control deforms fish – backed by the proof of an EPA study – and threatens the drinking supply, mum will be the word."

Very interesting study. That's quite significant as far as effecting the environment.
Perhaps women on birth control will have to bottle their urine and make sure it doesn't get into the sewer runoff, and instead take it to a proper recycling center?

Liberals have a way of thinking things through to a logical conclusion. You can't stop people from urinating. And you can't stop people from using birth control. So there would be no point in protesting unless you can suggest a viable alternative. Until one can be discovered there is no need to fight for a change. Apparently the environmentalist have already thought this through. So "The Inconvenient Truth" is that as usual the liberal mind is way ahead of you.

Why do you think that something as insidious as this will only affect Liberals? I would bet that the main reason most people will not see this story is the powerful pharmaceutical industry, and all the powerful, self-centered politicians it has in its pockets. But, I would say that using birth control in any form is better than trotting off to the "clinic" every few months or so, to "rectify matters". What the world needs is more barrier methods of birth control, and more reversible methods, as well.
P.S. Eating those fish won't hurt you any more than that beefsteak that has been pumped up with antibiotics and hormones as well.

Environmentalists aren't silent on this. Who do you think brought it to the attention of city officials, county officials and state officials. BTW, those same hormones are found in our food supply in the beef and chicken industry to pump up their cattle. Now they are putting it in your milk.
You cons are so late to the information it's laughable. Environmentalists have been talking about this issue and trying to do something about it for over 2 decades. Where have you been? If you had known this already, you would have known that several major universities now have specialized majors in Environmental Toxicology. You know those damn liberal science departments? Or, are you saying that those environmentalists aren't doing enough to protect you? Or, are you Catholic and anti-birth control and anti-choice and you want to blame women for this? I guess what I'm asking is what exactly is your point? I'm just curious.

It's a real problem. But it's not limited to birth control. Many people dispose of old medicines by flushing them away. And medication residues can enter the water system just by being excreted and flushed. Banning birth control won't solve the problem. Better treatment of waste water will.

You think that's bad? Down the street at the seniors-only development, the fish in the pond are all standing straight up - propped up on two fins and a "leg" ;-)

It may be an issue, it may not. I am not going to start jumping up and down because of the results of one study.

I guess conservatives don't take birth control? Don't kid yourself, the only people trying to hide this news, will be the pharmaceutical companies who happen to be run by….. you guessed it, conservatives.
With that being said, the waste treatment facilities need to have better facilities to stop this from happening.
