Its good if you have all the peripherals (like a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.) Mac Mini is just for the computer alone. If you don't have that stuff it can get pricey to piece all the stuff together, and then at that point you'd be better off going for an iMac...I think they're down to $899-999 now.
But yeah they're good. Macs are great, the only downside is the limited software because of Apple's closed system. But they run Windows now too so you have the best of both worlds.
I agree with Gromit...get as much RAM as you can afford at purchase...at least 1GB, preferably 2GB at purchase as I dont think you can upgrade these after purchase.

It is pretty good, especially if you want room on your desk, but the imac is better because it comes with every thing you need, like a mouse and keyboard, and the screens built in, and if you need any use of a web cam its good, but if you already have a mouse and a keyboard, then just get the mac mini

If you need a basic Mac, it's a great little computer. We have one at work that's also loaded with Windows to make it an all round machine.
Max out the RAM if you get one.
