In talking with a friend today he said it looks like our country is imploding. I agreed. I said the great thing about this country is our ability to with stand and comeback better. We are Americans after all. He agreed. Do you?

Absolutely... That's why we argue and bicker here on Y/A. The issues we face can and should be ironed out by non-violent methods. To present and analyze opinions makes our system work. To call attention to various views and to debate these is nothing new. We've always held heated arguments and posited political rhetoric. It's the significant mark of superior intelligence.

It is the COMMON citizen that really makes up American Spirit. NOT the assholes in DC.
Ask anyone on the street, do they REALLY care about IRAQ?
Most will say NO, but I want our boys out of there.
The common Joe, gets up, goes to work, still lives his life. For the most part could care less about DC.

No, this country is doing what it was made to do: spread democracy worldwide. Right now, the voice of freedom is rising in Iraq and if all works well we've got a new ally in the middle east.

It may APPEAR to him that things are imploding because of his perspective and the information sources he CHOOSES to frequent.
If he frequents, dailykos, thinkprogress, moveon, democratunderground etc, he will indeed think the world is exploding because the left have no chance of gaining or holding onto power if it cannot convince people there are serious problems and perpetual "crisises."

It's hard for anyone to have spirit when democratic leaders say we've lost the war when our young men and women are overseas still fighting. Think how they feel. Liberals killed our troops confidence.
