I know on a standard NON widescreen LCD monitor (a 17 inch) the proportions are 640x480, 800x600 & 1024x768.
What are the proportional lower resolutions for a widescreen LCD monitor (22 inch) running native at 1680x1050? Whenever I try to lower it in a game, it gets all out of whack because the settings I am trying are not proportionally correct.
Thanks!

1680 by 1050 has a 16:10 ratio.

So:
1440 by 900
1280 by 768 is close (should be 755)
640 by 400

Are the only VESA timings I see.

On my laptop, there is a BIOS option about the LCD screen which lets me have the option to display non-native resolution in correct proportion, or to stretch it out to fill the screen (and thus be the wrong proportion and things look stretched and fuzzy). Maybe there is a setting like this with the your video drivers or BIOS?
