I think it was a result of HGH. Steroids definitely did not make this happen, unlike what a lot of the children here say. They're too young and immature to listen to reason and consider reading facts before they open their mouths.
His muscle growth, was attributed to HGH as well. Steroids will make people look like Mr. Universe and not flabby or just big like Barry Bonds. If he had taken steroids exclusively, his muscles would be too tight and he would not be able to hit HR's.

Human Growth Hormone is known to cause abnormal growth in the extremities. This seems to be the reason for Bonds's head growth.
What actually corroborates this is his shoe size: it has gone from 10 1/2 to 13 when playing with the Giants.

Of course it's steroids, Bonds has admitted it. He just blamed his personal trainer for lying to him and telling him it was just an analgesic cream for sore muscles. (The Clear)
