PC2-4300 and PC2-4200 are the same exact type of RAM, just labeled differently. The numbers refer to the bandwidth of the RAM. The speed of these chips is 533Mhz. To get bandwidth you multiply the Mhz by 8, which yields 4266. Some companies round up and list it as PC2-4200, others round down and list it as PC2-4300, but the RAM is the same thing either way, so of course they can be put together, since they are the same thing.

The ram will run at the 4200 speed.. which will not be noticeable to most users, go for it.

Yes it can, depending on the brand you may find more or less of an issue. But keep in mind that there will be an issue in terms of system hang or abrupt freezes.
