First of all, the word ending in "a" or "er" has nothing to do with anything at all. Most white people sound different than black people when they talk so naturally when a black person uses the word it sounds like it ends with an "a". Just the way a black person says the word thing; a lot of times it sounds as if they are saying "thang". That doesn't give it a different definition though. So please stop with the pronunciations being an explanation for the definition. Over time, because of the way most black people sound when they talk, it turned into ni**a instead of ni**er. I doubt when blacks started using the words toward each other they were thinking about spelling it differently. White people should not use the word because when they use it, it is meant in a negative way (most of the time). Black people took the word and cleverly put a positive spin on it, that is why it is ok for black people to use it. Blacks don't mean the word in the same way when they say it as white people do.

Because Blacks were called the N-word back in the slavery days so it has a different meaning coming from a white person. Also White people have a way of pronouncing the N-word.

It's funny how other races have picked up the N-word using it as a friendly gesture. I pulled up to the light the other day and there was some kids at the bus stop. I could have swore on eof the Asian kids called the other one the N-word.....It was funny to me, but my passenger got all mad!

The question isn't why we DO have a word not used by anyother race, the question is why you DON'T (not to be rude). For black people it's ***.ger, for asian people its ch.nks, for aborigninals its redskin, for muslims (or whatever) it's sand ***.ers and many more. And I'm not saying that it's ONLY white people who use those words, but it IS white people who innitially placed it on us...So why don't white people have a word like that...Cracker? Pfft, yeah right, don't even use that excuse...In a way, I guess it's just another way to show that white people are the ones who do most of the racism...(Listen, I know that sounded rude...and racist, but it's not...im just really touchy on this subject, but I have nothing against white people...most of my family is white...I just don't hold back on this stuff)

I don't like the ignorance and the way the word is overused. The NAACP actually just held a burial for that word this week. I read an article about it on Yahoo. So there is a conscious effort being made to remove that word from the black vocabulary.

But my personal opinion on it, whether black people say it or not, is that it would be like joking about the holocaust with a Jewish person. YOU JUST DON'T DO IT.

Let the African American culture work that out for themselves. In the mean time, just be respectful enough not to use it.

The word came into use during slavery, and it was always meant in a derogatory way. Believe it or not, even in the 20th Century, there were places in the South that had signs up that "N****** don't let the sun go down on your black a** in this town". Rappers and hip/hop artists are tired of the word being thrown at them, so they have elected to take it back. In other words, it is no longer a word available to the public, it belongs to Black people. Lots of Black people don't agree, I'm not sure it'll work, but I understand the feelings behind it. After all, I learned to throw rocks really good because of the word being thrown at me.

The same reason I can talk about a family member and you can't...And black people are pretty disturbed anyway..I'm black..We are pretty self-destructive....suffer from a lot of issues that have to do with how we've been treated here...We kill each other, disrespect our women, and we don't take care of our kids the way we should..As a whole..But we're like America's sexually molested, mentally abused, stepchild..They way our grandparents were treated still affects us financially, emotionally and spiritually...We have a lot of self hate issues, and distrust issues with whites..Some of us play the blame game to death...Some of us realize that things are not fair, but white people are not going to give us any slack so we may as well fight for ourselves by getting educated, and trying to live more productive, responsible lives...White people owned us..
THEY came up with that word..We just did as we were told...And to the anthropologist at the top with the dumb brain cavity remark..We could also argue that pale skin and and inability to process sunlight into vitamin D efficiently and a complete lack of melanin or ANY dominant genes would indicate a race of people who are a mutation when compared with they rest of mankind..But there is no biological basis for race, and any suggestion that a certain group of people are more or less intelligent because of race is unintelligent....
