I asked an honest question that reflected the reality of a lot of people, which some people agreed and thanked me for bringing it up. But the majority of the responses tended to be juvenile name-calling. Is this because the majority of users are 14 or under? Or do people really have nothing more useful to say? It baffles me that people can feel so strongly about an issue, and yet the most persuasive thing they can find to say is "You're a *******."
Come on people. If you really believe in your positions, convince us intelligently and with respect for people (remember that this is an international board with people from all cultures) Leave the cheap insults and name-calling on the playground where they belong.

Calling people names like "homophobe", "racist", and "bigot" are just methods to win an argument by intimidation. The accused then has to defend himself of not being a "homophobe", etc instead of engaging in the argument.
It's a tactic used when the strength of the argument is weak. The sad thing is that it works.

For the most part the name calling is derived from a lack of social etiquette and immaturity. It is the same in many different sectors of answers from religion to immigration issues, to sexuality and also race. Some seem to think they hold higher standings in life to which they can belittle another through means such as name calling in hopes that they can feel better about themselves. It is this ignorance that robs outlets such as Yahoo Answers and other websites of intelligent, educated information. It is sad that maturity does not have anything to do with age for most of the users that are so uncompassionate and ignorant towards others here are over the age of 14. You just would never know it by looking at their responses.

seems to be prevalent in this section only...other sections have a much less frequent nasty quotient than this one. Yes, remember it is summer, the kiddies are out in force, when left with a choice of an honest answer or a cheap shot, the cheap shot wins. And please understand, this section is filled with ogres...trolls who love to bash gays for absolutely no reason but to get a rise....stupid, silly fools who have nothing in life to do but to irritate others...so many here are so sensitized, they fire back nasty comments because they ASSUME something in your question was bashing..not fair to you. I am sorry you have encountered this here. Trust me, Gays, in general, are great people. The nasty gays are relatively few, and in real life (any life away from the keyboard is real...this is not real life) these people are a lonely crew....
Good luck and peace in life.

seem it truly is Y/A. not an clever place of debate for the main section. i think of whilst atheists come at right here that is in actuality to verify what ridiculous issues religious human beings ought to assert. that is impressive from time to time. as a results of fact there isn't something you may say besides to a believer to verify issues in a logical way human beings in basic terms vent and revert to insults.

I agree. It's mainly because people around the world are slowly but surely...dare i say it...getting dumber. We in our degenerating culture believe that we are being cool and smarter by taking it out on the little guy. I could barely scratch the surface of this controversial subject. So read more about degeneration in books and on the web.

i think it depends on the question....some questions are simply insulting, but I think we all need to understand that if someone is honestly asking a quesiton, no matter if it is insulting or not, they are attempting to educate themselves...and that's what we want more than anything, right?

Immaturity??? That is all I can figure. That and the ability to make hateful comments anonymously. It is easy to talk "smack" when you can hide behind a mask.

what was your question? maybe your screen name push people into making fun of you, you know a big majority think that Tom Cruise is a wacko, so that could be hurting your credibility.
