To those who think that the President should run a war that way, I would offer this. The will of the people can change overnight. We cannot send the military one week, pull them back the next and send them again the following. In actuality, that gives all the power, not to the people, but to the pollsters.

Another thing to consider is the inaugural oath:
"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will try to the best of my ability, to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help me God."

If the President goes against his judgement to appease the"mob" because it is popular, not because he feels it is the best course of action, he is going back on his oath as president.

Nationally recognized polling organizations present a valid picture of the opinions of many.

This president doesn't only ignore we, the people and our opinions; he also ignores Congress, past and present military leaders and professionals and many others who have told him this war is fruitless and can't be won.
He also ignored all of them when he was told invasion was not a good thing and told him quite frankly what the results would be.

We, the people, own this country and pay this mans salary. We endow upon him the responsibility to DO THE PEOPLE'S WILL and the peoples business.

He has done neither.

That's why he'll be gone when the Constitutional process of impeachment reaches it's conclusion.

What I lot of people don't realize is that the average American is quite ignorant and only moderately educated. They don't even know what is best for themselves. That is why we elect people who we think have a better understanding of global politics, foreign relations, military, etc to take care of a lot of those things for the public. If the public was allowed to make all the decisions by poll there would probbaly be no taxes (which would lead to no schools,, military... roads... municipal water... electricity... etc). It would be an absolute disaster if we listened to all the polls.

"although, a rosier view of the protection tension project in Iraq has no longer translated into extra advantageous help for preserving U.S. forces in Iraq, extra advantageous optimism that usa will gain its objectives there, or an progression in President Bush's approval rankings." What approximately this?

What kind of a President ignores the will of the people, the will of congress, the advice of his commanders, the advice of his cabinet, the opinions of friends of the USA, the realities on the ground and the law to pursue his own agenda?
The War
Immigration
The Deficit
The Surgeon General
The US Attorneys
G'tmo
Warrantless Surveillance
Valerie Plame
Terry Schaivo
FEMA

The kind that understands that the current president of Iraq is the same man that gave the false information of WMDs to the US government. The information Chebali ( a paid CIA informant under Bush 41 and Clinton) supplied provided the "evidence" Bush 43 used to bring us to war in Iraq.

Maybe the same abject morons who thinks the low congressional poll numbers are ONLY a bad reflection on the Democrats?

They(some extreme Republicans) actually use that argument.
Abject morons.

With that logic, all politicians are Moron's! You see they react to polls, to politically protect their base of votes. Thus, if they did not they would not care to be re-elected. They all do, thus they must all be Moron's. Your on to something here.

A moron who thinks that in a representative gvt, the concept that the will of the majority is usually a pretty good way to go........and if 80% of the people are against something....that there is a wee bit of a chance that thing is probably wrong.

Plus dont forget the dangers that can come from one man being the decider or as hitler said himself...that decisions are best made by one man cause most people dont understand whats going on. lol.........hopefully my comments will give you some pause.

Don't have to have poll numbers. Just use common sense. This entire presidency has been a JOKE. One obvious lie after another. Everyone knows it. The problem is everybody who voted for Mr. Idiot. Wants to put blame everywhere but where it belongs. With the man in charge.
