relax, there are a few of us on here who are independents. We sometimes get washed up between the lib/con, dem/rep battles.

Damn good idea Chad. The problem is as long as the electoral college exists in it's present form as a winner takes all deal the possibility of a significant third party ever developing rank right along with Republicans and Democrats agreeing and a snowballs chance in hell.
And frankly the TWO major parties are not going to change the EC setup. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose if they do.

the respond the Republicans choose you to believe is as follows. Democrats choose to advance your taxes and boost the size of government to preserve the individuals and Republicans choose to decrease your taxes, decrease the size of the government, and permit the individuals to prosper. The Democrats choose you to believe is as follows. Republicans are hypocrites, warmongers, homophobic elitist.... oh, yeah and that they'll advance your taxes too, and Democrats are properly knowledgeable, tolerant, benevolent, being concerned those which will in all probability advance taxes for the extra effective stable. easily, Republicans are transforming into further and extra liberal and finding extra like the Democrat party of a few many years in the past, and Democrats are transforming into lots extra liberal, and commencing to appear as if Socialists. to understand what they are meant to stand for, you should recognize what liberalism is, and conservatism is. Liberalism comes from the backside word, liberty. it truly is the place liberty stops in liberalism. In liberalism, the government makes judgements for you, and seems after what it perceives as your desires. Conservatism as an ideology has a extra installation identify. Conservatives choose to maintain the regulation. they don't have the desire to make extra regulations except somewhat mandatory. they suspect each and every individual has the superb to make their very own judgements. An occasion of the two in an argument is well-being care. Liberals plan to fee many of the rustic to make particular each and every physique is roofed with well-being care. they'll value wealthier human beings extra for the comparable volume of well-being care, as a results of fact the can 'discover the money for it'. The unfavorable gets the comparable well-being look after unfastened or next to not something. this would sound stable, yet in basic terms think of well-being care being run like the TSA runs airport secure practices (long lines, 2 hour waits that weren't around a decade in the past, and grandma getting strip searched) Conservatives say permit the equipment pass on because it truly is. no person is became away interior the form of an emergency, non-governmental nonprofit companies, and charity will help those in want. the government does not ought to adjust and take value of each and every of the rustic's hospitals and well-being care professional's workplaces. the individuals have an more suitable wisdom of their well-being care desires than some bureaucratic committee in Washington DC. My one caveat to you is neither party is as they might characterize themselves.

I agree, but since our government is based on a 2 party system this doesn't seem likely. I would like to see both parties (Democrat & Republican) return to more moderate politics, they may be surprised of how much support they would have.

The only viable way to create a 3rd party is to UNITE all the INDEPENDENT parties. The problem is that they are too busy bickering amongst themselves ever to truly UNITE behind one candidate. Until that happens, we won't have a chance for a 3 party system. But I am definitely for it.

Chad, that's the whole point, I certainly don't want ANYTHING "to get done" in Washington because when they get together to do something it means BEND OVER for the rest of us.
I want them at their throats constantly.
The Founders wanted it that way as well.

Most people are conservative or braindead.
So, Republican or Democrat.
There are not enough people who feel differently on enough issues to waste their votes on another party.
