Diamonds are factually a girls best friend. I work as a broker for diamonds and I can tell you straight many women have broken up with a man if his diamond is too small, if his diamond does not measure up to her girlfriends friends diamonds. Further Diamonds value at thousands of dollars per carat while Rubies generally are $30-$40 per carat. You might be unique and love Rubies but I havent seen anyone willing to put a Ruby on her finger over a diamond when committing to a man. Totally up to you I respect our toss up on this however Diamonds last a lifetime if its love you seek Diamonds will do it forever like they say. However, if you are on a budget Rubies are a very nice alternative just make sure they are high polish and clean them often. Just a note...all men I have ever dealt with despise buying diamonds and they hate spending so much money on them but alas tell him you want a poodle for an engagement symbol and he will jump for joy!

I hate jewelry. well i dont hate it, i just dont wear it. i think it looks great on other people, I look good in gold, but i could care less what's on a ring. the diamond on my wedding ring bothered me, i was always catching it on everything and scratching my children on accident. So i went back to wearing my engagement ring which has a few tiny diamonds, but they are set inside the ring and are flush with the outside rim.
My best friend is chocolate as mentioned before! I was happier when my husband picked up a bag of Dove's chocolates to surprise me than i was helping choose the wedding ring.

I think diamonds are truely a womans best friend, right along with the man who gave them to her.
Man's best friend is his wife,spouse, soul mate. Don't want to wake up to the my best friend being a dog.
