i dont think he was on seroids i heard it was a type of plain killer in which i say let the dude take some pain killers hes getting old for christ sakes. if they were steriods they werent workin 4 him. lol 177 average. what is the real story or is that pretty much it?

He tested positive for a banned substance; doesn't necessarily have to be steroids.

Perez tested positive for a banned stimulent (perhaps amphetamines).

He was suspended for having a "banned substance" in his system. I'm not sure exactly what it was but I don't think something has to be a steroid necessarily to be on the banned substance list. 25 games is the standard suspension for a first time offender under the rules that were enacted a year or two ago.

It doesn't have to be steroids, there are more than 50 banned substances that can cause a player to fail the drug test, and Perez tested positive for one of those on the list. Take a look at the web reference.
